Left the Black Lark twich a once in a life time at Winterton 20th April 2008, Right Bee-eater 7th June at Northrepps in the pouring rain.
2007 was quiet for me as I dipped every rarity I went to see but 2008 started off with a BANG ......
White-crowned Sparrow 6th January 2007 Cley,
Left Desert Wheatear Twitch, Middle Desert Wheatear at Horsey which at one point was on the fence in the foreground of the left pic I had to step back to get the bird in frame, right Common Rosefinch at Warham Green late one evening aslo had a Great White Egret that night.
8th June went and saw Travis in Thetford Forest didn't get home until 1.30am and then I was up at 3.30am to go to Scotland for the White-tailed Plover.
We arrived in Dumfries at around 9 but due to fog there had been no sign of the plover. By 10 the fog was clearing but still no sign, by 11 the fog had gone and so had the bird overnight.

All was not lost though we took a detour and went to Lanashire - Dunsop Bridge to see the Eagle Owls (middle) on the way down the everlasting track we saw Dipper (left) and Grey Wagtail (right). Another trip that took 24 hours and another 1000 mile on the clock.

10th March 2007 - A trip to Cornwall for the Gyr was on the cards with other good species down there like White-billed Diver (middle) and Spotted Sandpiper (right). We left at 10.30pm friday night and arrived 30mins before dawn, saw a badger run in front of us, we parked up but couldn't see any other birders so we set out anyway only to find that we were on the wrong headland and we missed the Gyr leaving the roost, dam ! Got a good picture of the Stonechat though (left). So we hung around all day saw the above then went back to the Gyr for its return to roost, but that night it didn't return we left Cornwall at 6pm and got back home at 3.30am, so 29 hours 1000 miles later no Gyr (my wife thought I was nuts). P.S Gyr was back the next night.
3rd February 2007 - Yorkshire, A trip out allowed me to see my second American Robin (left) and my first Pacific Diver (middle) .
The Red Grouse (right) was just a bonus.
